How to Write a Love Letter

Writing a love letter to your significant other can be as simple or elaborate as you want. The purpose of your letter is to show or display your feelings for that particular someone. Therefore being as open and honest as possible is the only way to truly express your heart.

In this day and age of techno this and that, hand writing (yes, writing by hand) a letter may seem really old fashioned but it is a very personal statement of a very personal emotion. As such, it merits a hand-written letter delivered in person or as a surprise found in the mail (snail mail that is). Not every person can write a love letter or put into words what is in their mind and heart. Here are a few tips on how to write a love letter that will send the person of your affections into orbit:

Start with "My dearest" or "My dear" or "My beloved" and then their name or the pet name you use for them;
Go immediately into what you want to say - "I love you" and explain why - what is it about them that you love?

If finding the right words is just too hard for you - research love song lyrics and quote them in your love letter;

Go into detail as to how knowing and loving them has changed your life and how much that means to you;

Always close the love letter with a reiteration of your love for them and how much you wish to be with them always.

It doesn't have to be fancy poetry or a bunch of lovey-dovey cooing, just some simple heartfelt words to show them how much they mean to you and how you cannot live without them. This is the whole reason for the love letter. It is a physical manifestation of your emotional thoughts and feelings for that special someone in your life. It only takes a few moments to write but the words will last forever.
